Dear Hiring Team,
What draws me to Amazon Web Services specifically is its continued leadership in redefining how organizations build, scale, and secure cloud-native systems at global scale. The opportunity to contribute as a Senior Cloud Engineering Manager aligns directly with my experience leading DevSecOps transformation, modernizing cloud platforms, and enabling high-performing engineering teams to deliver with speed, reliability, and precision.
In my current role at Charles Schwab, I spearheaded the modernization of CI/CD infrastructure within the Cloud DevSecOps Automation team, directing the migration from legacy Bamboo pipelines to GitHub Actions — significantly improving deployment consistency, maintainability, and engineering efficiency across teams. When faced with fragmented tooling and inconsistent delivery processes, I led cross-functional alignment and implemented standardized automation frameworks that reduced operational friction and enabled faster, more reliable releases.
Previously, I architected and operated large-scale hybrid cloud environments across AWS and Azure, led Kubernetes-based platform operations supporting complex microservices ecosystems, and drove Infrastructure-as-Code adoption using Terraform — strengthening scalability, security posture, and system resilience.
What excites me most about AWS is its culture of ownership, innovation, and customer obsession — principles that closely align with how I lead teams and approach platform engineering. I am particularly drawn to building and scaling cloud infrastructure that directly impacts customers worldwide, while mentoring engineers and driving operational excellence within a high-performance environment.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience in cloud platform engineering, DevSecOps transformation, and scalable infrastructure can contribute to AWS's continued innovation. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Ryan Rumsey
